Molecular Docking Study of Some Nitro Diazo Dye Derivatives as Antiviral Candidates of COVID-19

In this study, the computerized molecular docking method was used to investigate the interactions of five nitro diazo dye derivatives 1-5 with COVID-19, CLpro, RAF and PLpro as very important viral proteins to target the coronavirus SARS-CoV-2. Among the used diazo dyes, compound 5 showed the highest binding free energies and the lowest inhibition constants Ki with all studied proteins, and it exhibits a large effect to inhibit the activities of the RAF and COVID-19. Therefore, compound 5 may be useful as an antiviral candidate that worth more trials for COVID-19 disease. The binding sites of compound 5 with the tested viral proteins were evaluated.

Effect of Seasonal Fluctuations on the Nutrient Content of Whole Body of Callinectes pallidus

Due to the effect of species, age, sex, environment and season on the nutrientcomposition of seafood, the effect of seasonal fluctuations on the nutrient content of whole body of Callinectes pallidus caught during dry and wet seasonswas investigated.The proximate composition of the whole body of Callinectes pallidus caught in the month of February (dry season) and June (rainy season)was determined using standard methods, the fatty acid composition was analysed using Gas Chromatography- Mass Spectrophotometer and the amino acid composition was analyzed using Amino Acid Analyzer. Parameters such as crude fat, ash content and carbohydrateshowed significant difference (p<0.05) between Callinectes pallidus caught in February and Junewhile moisture content, crude protein and crude fibreshowed no significant difference (p<0.05). The percentage eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA) and docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) for C. pallidus caught in June (18.47%, 10.53%) was higher than those caught in February (11.21%, 6.90%) while the n-6/n-3 ratio of C. pallidus caught in February (1.07) was higher than those caught in June (0.71). Glutamic acid had the highest concentration of non-essential amino acid in C. pallidus caught in both seasons while leucine had the highest concentration of essential amino acids. This study showed that C. pallidus caught in wet season had higher crude protein content, polyunsaturated fatty acids and essential amino acids than C. pallidus caught in dry season.

Cuphea Seed Oil as a Potential Alternative Natural Source of Medium-chain Triglycerides used for Healthier Cooking Applications

Cuphea is a potential new oilseed crop for temperate regions of the USA. 

It produces and stores in its seeds medium chain length fatty acids, which currently are derived commercially from seeds of tropical palms.

Cuphea seeds contain more than 30% of oil rich in medium-chain fatty acids, caprylic, capric, lauric, and myristic fatty acids  (C8:0-C14:0). .  

In this paper, we through the light on Cuphea seed oils as the only naturally cultivated seed oils that contain the most prominent Medium-chain triglycerides (MCT). 

MCTs oils are trended in the last 20 years as the healthier dietary oil which is essentially nontoxic, noncarcinogenic, and nonmutagenic for human consumption. MCTs are readily hydrolyzed by digestive enzymes, and the fatty acid end products are rapidly absorbed into the bloodstream [1]. The gross energy content of MCTs is 8.3 kcal/g vs 9 kcal/g for fat or Long-chain triglycerides oils    (LCTs oils). 

The objective of this study was to introduce to the global edible oils industries an innovative potential natural healthier edible oil which contains that majority of its triglyceride compositions is based on medium-chain glycerides (MCT) with avoiding any chemical conversion process to get the MCT rich oils from tropical oils. It will be a basis for a lot of further researches to make its characteristics fulfilling all other nutritional and application needs of healthy cooking applications better than conventional seed or tropical oils.
